Shakespeare's Party

The drums made me laugh 

The bass made me cry  

Juliet has caught my eye 

But can she keep it?

Because Ophelia has hyacinths in her hair  

Though they both share the same secret 

It'll take different drinks to reveal it

Said Claudius to Macbeth 

“I’ve always been an optimist 

When it comes to woman and war”

Macbeth replied with tears swelling in his eyes

“I know but what the hell is it all for 

If she doesn’t love me?

You know I don’t think she loves me”

Is tonight a tragedy 

or

Is tonight a comedy?

And Lear himself is in the hall 

On the phone to some girl

Who’s waiting at an airport in Spain

Hamlet and Jacques 

They're in the garden smoking weed        

And Romeo's had to much ecstasy again  

They’re all talking about astrology 

And Greek mythology

And is tonight a tragedy 

or 

Is tonight a comedy?

Prospero and Caliban 

Have finally shaken hands 

After their fight in the kitchen  

They’ve both agreed to disagree

That they have absolutely 

Nothing worth anything in common 

And Richard the third

Is talking to Richard the second 

I heard him saying

“Is tonight a tragedy

 or

 Is tonight a comedy?"

 

Is tonight a tragedy 

or

Is tonight a comedy? 

Who cares anyway 

Tomorrow it’ll be history
