As if graduating from a drummer for hire to a breakout solo artist wasn’t impressive enough, Georgia Flipo, aka G Flip, also lends out their considerable talents as a songwriter and guest star. In the hip-hop realm, you can hear them adding powerful vocals to Illy’s 2020 growing-pains reflection “Loose Ends” and singing the hook on Baker Boy’s funky “My Mind,” off the Yolŋu rapper’s multi-ARIA-winning 2021 album Gela. Flipo can also be found behind the scenes in tracks as disparate as George Alice’s percolating Basenji collab “Say Hi,” Thelma Plum’s emotional ballad “Hurricane,” and Budjerah’s propulsive pop tune “Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense.” Other prominent co-writes include the all-nighter anthem “Last Girls at the Party” from Canadian band The Beaches and Australia-based singer KYE’s stirring “Gospel,” both from 2025. Through it all, Flipo’s trademark rhythmic prowess and narrative shorthand makes for punchy songs that leave a lasting impression in just a few minutes’ time.
