Power pop rarely sounds as lively or as fun as it does in the hands of McFly. Songwriters Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones hardly bother with introspection or despair, preferring to toss an ebullient lead vocal back and forth like Lennon and McCartney in their prime. And while McFly's melodies and Beatles-y harmonies are formally structured, straight out of the classic surf and pop songbook, the lyrics are full of the kind of youthful irreverence and outright sauce you'd expect from boys who spent their formative years blasting Blink-182 and giggling.
