Bibiane Schulze Solano: The Warm-Up
Playlist - 40 Songs
“Music is already crucial to me in normal everyday life, so it’s even more important on a match day,” Germany centre-back Bibiane Schulze tells Apple Music. Playing her matchday mix on the drive to the stadium is a treasured Schulze tradition. “The playlist tends to include songs that motivate me even more and get me going. But I also have some that make me emotional and bring back memories that I associate with football,” she says. German rap, reggaetón and a “colourful mix” of English tracks usually do the trick: “I try to avoid genres that make me sad or calm me down.” Here, Bibiane explains why three of her go-to tracks on this warm-up playlist resonate with her. Kontra K, “Erfolg ist kein Glück” “This song brings back memories for me because it was the song that made an impression on the whole team at a schools World Cup in Guatemala. It was played before every game and motivated us all. When I hear the song, I immediately associate it with my time in Guatemala and I get emotional.” Bananafishbones, “Es ist geil ein wilder Kerl zu sein” “This song simply describes my childhood. I was a big fan of Die wilden Kerle back then and the movies simply accompanied my childhood. The song reminds me of little Bibi, who was always the only girl who kicked with the boys and just did her thing. It gives me extra motivation on match day.” David Marley & JC Reyes, “XXX” “This song is one of my favourites at the moment. It’s on a constant loop. It just makes me want to listen to the song and dance along. It motivates me, mobilises me and simply encourages me to move.”
