Since their inception in the early ’00s, Kanagawa alt-rockers RADWIMPS have constantly juggled hardcore and melodic flavours but their restlessness and rich textures always hit home. Hit single “Dada”, from 2011 album Zettai Zetsumei, delivers a tempo-hopping mix of rap, emo and post-punk, encapsulating the band’s ability to combine experimentalism with exhilarating riffs. The band also poured melodic J-pop and punk influences into two highly successful soundtracks for anime features Your Name. and Weathering with You—reaching even wider audiences with English versions of their tracks.
