The 2018 loss of pioneering MC Hip Hop Pantsula hit South Africa's music community hard. A key proponent of motswako, he built on the Tswana vocal traditions of Bongo Maffin and Baphixile to craft truly original, multilingual hip-hop for the masses of Mahikeng—which he called "Maf-Town". Although his prolific oeuvre is full of pop gems, it's uptempo anthem "Jabba" that's a classic representation of his maximalist, sunshine-flecked music, with tinkling synths and booming bass filled out by eager voices.
