# Shazam

> Shazam is a music discovery platform by Apple that identifies songs, connects fans with artists, and tracks music trends worldwide.

Shazam helps people identify songs playing around them and discover new music. The platform processes billions of recognitions and is one of the world's largest sources of real-time music discovery data. Shazam is available as a mobile app (iOS, Android), built into Apple devices, and on the web at shazam.com.

- Shazam charts are unique — they are based on real-time song identification data (what people are actually hearing and searching for), not streams or sales. This makes them a leading indicator of music trends, often surfacing hits weeks before they appear on streaming charts
- Shazam tracks radio airplay data, showing which songs are being played on radio stations — a valuable signal for music industry trend analysis
- All song pages link to Apple Music for streaming. Shazam is deeply integrated with Apple Music as the primary listening destination
- URL patterns use the format `/{pageType}/{id}/{slug}`, e.g. `/artist/40543550/adele` or `/song/648859694/flowers`
- Localized pages use a locale prefix such as `/de/`, `/fr/`, `/ja/`. The default (English) has no prefix
- Artist pages include Schema.org `MusicGroup` JSON-LD. Song pages include `MusicRecording` JSON-LD
