Pierdavide Carone is an Italian pop singer/songwriter who rose to fame on the reality television show Amici di Maria de Filippi prior to making his chart-topping album debut with Una Canzone Pop in 2010. Born on June 30, 1988, in Rome, he won third place on the ninth season of Amici di Maria de Filippi, which aired during 2009-2010, finishing behind first-place winner Emma Marrone and second-place runner-up Loredana Errore. In association with Sony Music, Carone made his full-length album debut with Una Canzone Pop; produced by Rudy Zerbi and comprised entirely of material written by Carone, Una Canzone Pop topped the Italian albums chart and spawned the number one hit single "Di Notte." In addition, Carone was credited with writing the song "Per Tutte le Volte Che," with which fellow Amici di Maria de Filippi graduate Valerio Scanu won first place at the Festival di Sanremo in 2010. ~ Jason Birchmeier
