Danish pop singer Sanne Salomonsen debuted in 1973 with a self-titled album. Not much came of it, and a few years passed before she returned as a member of Flair, the Anne Linnet Band, and Sneakers. Her solo career didn't take flight until the mid-'80s, starting with the Danish-language album Sanne Salomonsen (1985). The follow-up, Ingen Engel (1987), was released in both English (titled No Angel) and Danish versions. Subsequent albums were mostly in English, though some, like Sanne (1989), were in Danish while others, like Unplugged (1994), were a mix of English and Danish. Salomonsen had a banner year in 2005, releasing the chart-topping album The Album. Released in 2009, Unico also topped the charts. ~ Jason Birchmeier
