Singer, rapper, and actor Ray J has successfully made the jump from ’90s child star to multi-faceted entertainer.
• Born in McComb, Mississippi, Ray J launched his career after his family moved to Los Angeles. He’s the younger brother of actress and R&B star Brandy.
• At age eight, Ray J began acting in television commercials, and he starred in the Fox sitcom The Sinbad Show from 1993 to 1994.
• Ray J’s big break came when he played Dorian "D-Money" Long on UPN’s Moesha, a role he held from 1999 to the series’ end in 2001.
• He signed with Elektra Records in 1995 and released his debut album, Everything You Want, two years later.
• His biggest hit to date, “Sexy Can I,” from 2008’s All I Feel, peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
• Along with acting in sitcoms, Ray J has starred on the VH1 reality series For the Love of Ray J (2009–2010), Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business (2010–2011), and Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood (2014–present).
• Ray J is the founder of two technology companies, Raytroniks and Raycon Global Inc., both of which sell consumer electronics.
