Biografía de este/a artista
Pepe de Lucia is a Spanish flamenco singer and composer. His grainy tenor emerges directly from the flamenco tradition, yet his own style extends it into new song forms. In addition to flamenco, he works in rhumba, folk, and Spanish soul. He played in younger brother Paco de Lucia's groups from 1959 to 1989 and recorded 1961's Los Chiquitos de Algeciras and 1989's Zyryab. Pepe's eponymous debut appeared in 1976 and was followed by 1983's Caminando, 1985's La Media Luna and 1987's Que Tristeza Amarte Tanto. De Lucia released one album during the '90s, the homage El Orguillo de Mi Padre. He returned to recording in 2000, releasing Cada Dia and 2002's double-Latin Grammy-winner El Corazón de Mi Gente. 2008's Tomo y Obligo appeared from Universal. In 2024, BMG Spain released Pepito y Paquito, containing unreleased performances from 1959 captured by their father, flamenco guitarist Antonio Sánchez Pecino.
