One of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Cantopop, Jacky Cheung beat 10,000 contenders in the Amateur 18-Hong Kong District Singing Contest in 1984. By the ‘90s, the “God of Songs” was a household name. But behind his many titles, Cheung remains grounded: seeking new challenges and working closely on his albums' production in more recent years. Although best known for ballads, his extensive catalogue includes turns at rock, classical and even rap. Cheung is lauded for his rich vocals and wide range that renders his music timeless, keeping it relevant and meaningful to new generations of Asian pop fans.
