Demi Lovato rose to musical fame alongside the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, a new generation of Disney stars finding mainstream success on the pop charts. She forged her own path, though, thanks to powerhouse vocals, a balance of vulnerable ballads and club-ready bangers, and her advocacy for mental illness and addiction issues.
