Bridging the worlds of punk and hip-hop, Sydney, Australia's Blessed is a guitar-wielding rapper, singer, and producer inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Kanye West. Born Blessed Samuel Joe-Andah in Accra, Ghana, he began making music in high school, signing with Sony after graduation. In the beginning, he produced and wrote for other artists before deciding to strike out on his own. First, he rapped under the moniker Miracle, issuing an album in 2014. The following year, he decided to merge his varied influences into a style similar to Kid Cudi's. His debut single as Blessed arrived in 2016. "One and Only" featured guitars and a hip-hop beat, as well as Blessed's energetic rap-singing. The "Sorrows" single arrived before the release of his genre-bending debut EP, Love Letters, which arrived in early 2017. With an energy that combined the darkness of 808s & Heartbreak with the pop sense of Cudi, B.o.B., and Lupe Fiasco, the six-song set also included the single "Insanity."
