About The Inspirations
Artist Biography
The Inspirations were essentially a duo of Jimmy London (Trevor Shaw) and Billy Dyce (Ransford White), who were active on the Jamaican music scene at the end of the 1960s and into the early '70s. They initially worked with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, and their song "Tighten Up," recorded at Studio One, was actually Perry's first independent production (Perry, for some reason, called the group the Untouchables when the single was released). The Inspirations also recorded several fine tracks for Joe Gibbs between 1969 and 1971, most of which are collected on the group's only album, Reggae Fever. After their sessions with Gibbs, the duo returned to working with Perry, before splitting for solo careers in 1971. ~ Steve Leggett
