Artist Biography
Singer Tamela Mann performed with gospel legend Kirk Franklin before she launched a successful solo career, scooping up some of the industry’s biggest awards along the way.
∙ Mann led an all-star group of vocalists, including Bono and Mary J. Blige, on Kirk Franklin’s “Lean On Me,” from 1998’s Grammy-winning The Nu Nation Project.
∙ Thanks to the smash hit “Take Me to the King,” 2012’s Gold-certified Best Days racked up multiple awards and led Billboard’s decade-end Top Gospel Albums chart.
∙ Her 2016 album, One Way, earned her a Grammy Award (for “God Provides”), and a record for most No. 1s on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, after “Change Me” took the top spot.
∙ In 2018, she received the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award from the Stellar Awards, honoring her nearly 30-year career in gospel music.
∙ She’s appeared in more than a dozen of Tyler Perry’s film, stage, and television productions, including a starring role in the sitcom Meet The Browns, alongside her husband, David.
