About RIIZE
Artist Biography
By the time K-pop boy group RIIZE debuted in September 2023, the SM Entertainment squad already had a fandom. Buoyed by rappers Shotaro and Sungchan’s status as former NCT members and a pre-debut performance on American soil at KCON LA 2023, RIIZE was one of the most-anticipated groups of the fifth-generation K-pop scene. Shotaro and Sungchan were joined by Eunseok, Wonbin, Seunghan, Sohee, and Anton, and RIIZE was born. With their debut song “Get a Guitar,” a retro-funk pop track about coming together through music, RIIZE announced themselves as a bright boy group that takes on down-to-earth themes. They called their style “emotional pop,” defined as music that is emotionally relatable.
RIIZE gets their name from a portmanteau of “rise” and “realize.” It is meant to evoke the meaning of “a team that grows together and realizes dreams.” Their fandom’s name is BRIIZE, pronounced like “breeze.” The group would go through a shake-up in its first year with the departure of member Seunghan, but their core concept of “emotional pop” stuck. In 2024’s house-dance track “Impossible,” the group declares their aspiration to keep climbing: “No stoppin’, we already/Movin’ on, movin’ on/Gotten used to that magic word, ‘Together.’” Other notable RIIZE tracks include: “Memories,” “Boom Boom Bass,” “Love 119,” “Talk Saxy,” and “Combo.”
