About Reyna Tropical
Artist Biography
Conceived by guitarist/singer Fabi Reyna and DJ/producer Nectali Díaz (aka Sumohair), Reyna Tropical combines the duo's common musical interests, as well as their shared Mexican heritage and queer identity. Their suggestive mixture of organic and electronic sounds with tropical rhythms attracted the attention of Li Saumet, who asked Reyna Tropical to be Bomba Estéreo's opening act for their upcoming U.S. tour. Just as the duo was ready to focus exclusively on Reyna Tropical, Díaz died in a traffic accident in July 2022. Reyna decided to honor her friend's memory by keeping the project alive, even if only as a solo endeavor. Malegría, Reyna Tropical's debut album, appeared in early 2024.
