About Newsboys
Artist Biography
One of contemporary Christian music’s most prolific bands, the pop-rock Newsboys have scored nearly three dozen No. 1 hits across their 35-year career.
∙ The first of six Gold albums, 1994’s Going Public won two Dove Awards, including a nod for “Shine,” which made CCM Magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Songs in Christian Music.
∙ With the exception of “Miracle Child,” every single track on 1996’s Grammy-nominated Take Me To Your Leader made the Top 10 on Christian radio.
∙ Cofounder and former vocalist Peter Furler—cousin of pop star Sia—penned nearly all of their major hits and received SESAC’s Christian Songwriter of the Year Award in 2000.
∙ The animated series VeggieTales tapped them to create several songs, including “In the Belly of the Whale,” which played over the end credits of 2002’s Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie.
∙ The 2010 release Born Again, their first album to feature former DC Talk frontman Michael Tait, reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200, making it their biggest Pop chart hit.
∙ The Platinum-certified title track from 2011’s God’s Not Dead—actually a cover of singer-songwriter Daniel Bashta’s “Like a Lion”—inspired a film trilogy of the same name.
