Matthew West is a popular Contemporary Christian artist and a GMA Dove Award-winning songwriter.
∙ He began writing songs at his father’s church during college breaks and found early success providing tunes to such artists as Rascal Flatts and Billy Ray Cyrus.
∙ Happy, his 2003 major-label debut album, featured the radio hit “More,” which was named ASCAP’s 2004 Christian Song of the Year.
∙ In 2009, West received his first Grammy nomination, for the Christian-chart-topper “The Motions” from his Something to Say album.
∙ Between 2007 and 2020, he had five consecutive releases in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Christian Albums chart, with 2015’s Live Forever reaching No. 1.
∙ He made his film-acting debut in 2011’s The Heart of Christmas and received a 2012 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the title track.
∙ West provided Christian rock band Casting Crowns with two chart-topping singles in a row: 2018’s “Only Jesus” and 2019’s “Nobody,” on which he also made a guest appearance.
