Labeled “Chicago’s best conscious rapper” by Chicago Reader, underground hip-hop star Lucki uses complex, detailed storytelling to address issues facing his community.
• In 2013, while using his original name, Lucki Eck$, the rapper broke through with his acclaimed debut project, Alternative Trap. He would go on to work with FKA Twigs, Chance, King Krule, and Danny Brown.
• Lucki dropped the “Eck$” from his name in 2016 ahead of releasing the single “Deja Vu.” He said the decision was about growth.
• “More Than Ever,” his 2019 collaboration with CHASETHEMONEY, became a streaming hit with millions of plays.
• In late 2016, Lucki took an eight-month hiatus from music to work on his mental health, overcome a Xanax addiction, and raise his son.
• He returned in 2017 with three full-lengths—Days BE4 Storm, Freewave 2, and Watch My Back—and has been going strong ever since. In 2020, he followed the Almost There album with the popular three-pack The World Is Lucki’s.
