Artist Biography
Mexican band Los Bukis was founded by cousins Marco Antonio Solís and Joel Solís, whose songs popularized grupera music throughout Latin America.
∙ Los Bukis’ 1975 first single, “Falso Amor”—also the title track of their bestselling debut album released later that year—was an instant success on Spanish radio.
∙ In 1982, they recorded the theme song for and starred in the Mexican comedy film Las Musiqueras.
∙ They received three Grammy nominations during their career, including Best Latin Pop Album for their 1991’s A Través de Tus Ojos.
∙ After disbanding Los Bukis in 1996, frontman Marco Antonio Solís pursued a successful solo career with 10 No. 1 singles, and he was inducted into Billboard’s Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
∙ Several group members reunited under the name Los BK’S in 2017, and they performed Los Bukis classics on tour before releasing the 2019 album Tu’ Amor.
