Chicago-based música mexicana band K-Paz la Sierra formed in 2002, performing energetic, Duranguense-style covers of grupera songs.
∙ Released in 2003, K-Paz la Sierra’s debut album, Arrasando Con Fuego, has been certified Gold.
∙ Their second LP, 2004’s Pensando en Ti, was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Banda Album.
∙ Starting in 2004, four of the group’s singles reached the Top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
∙ K-Paz de la Sierra has recorded with some of their musical heroes, including José Manuel Zamacona of Los Yonic’s and ex-Liberación frontman Juan Tavares.
∙ The group participated in the 2010 charity single “Somos El Mundo 25 Por Haiti,” proceeds from which went to benefit Haitian earthquake victims.
