Firefall have coupled their mellow and easy country-rock sound with a penchant for pop melodies and high-pitched harmonies. Formed by ex-members of the Flying Burrito Brothers, Spirit, the Byrds, and Zephyr, the band produced a series of successful albums during the late 1970s, namely Firefall, Luna Sea, and Elan. The self-titled debut featured the number nine pop hit "You Are the Woman" -- their biggest single -- and the latter two narrowly missed the Top Ten of Billboard's Top LPs chart. Since racking up a total of six Top 40 singles and concluding their seven-album run for Atlantic in 1983, Firefall have recorded studio albums less frequently. In addition to releasing Messenger in 1994, Colorado to Liverpool: A Tribute to the Beatles in 2007, and Comet in 2020, they've remained active as performers, led by founding guitarist/vocalist Jock Bartley, the band's lone constant member.
