While still a teen in the 1970s, gospel singer Donnie McClurkin organized his first group, The McClurkin Singers, with four of his sisters.
∙ He made his recording debut in 1990, leading The New York Restoration Choir on I See a World, which earned five Stellar Award nominations.
∙ Live in London and More... topped Billboard’s Hot Gospel Albums chart in 2001, and spent 37 weeks of its staggering 105-week run at No. 1.
∙ McClurkin won the first of his three Grammy Awards in 2003, with Again being named Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.
∙ “I Call You Faithful,” his first No. 1 single, had a seven-week run atop Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs in 2005.
∙ In 2010, he launched a radio gospel study and music series, The Donnie McClurkin Show, which draws more than 5 million listeners weekly.
