Artist Biography
Rapper Dex Osama was born Byron Cox in Detroit, Michigan in 1993. The young rapper came to regional recognition through a series of solo tracks and appearances on other rappers' songs, most notably his own singles "Choppa (Freestyle)" and "Death on Me" as well as a verse on a remix of Oba Rowland's "Lifestyle, Pt. 2." Active mostly between the years 2013 and 2015, Osama was signed to Meek Mill's Dreamchasers label and released multiple videos for his various tracks. In the early morning of September 7, 2015, the rapper was fatally shot in front of a Detroit strip club following an altercation involving his girlfriend (who was working at the club) and two other men. He died just a few days shy of his 22nd birthday and before the September 11, 2015 release of his 9/11 mixtape. ~ Fred Thomas
