Folk-rock revivalists with a Laurel Canyon state of mind.
About Dawes
Artist Biography
Bringing together the acoustic style and rich vocal harmonies of the Laurel Canyon sound, as well as the shambling, romanticized Americana of the Band, Dawes have built a loyal following with their vintage-influenced aesthetic. They broke through in 2011 with their critically praised sophomore album, Nothing Is Wrong, and have continued to garner accolades, topping the Americana/Folk Albums chart with 2015's All Your Favorite Bands and 2016's We're All Gonna Die. Dawes also scored a number of Top Ten Adult Alternative Songs hits like "Things Happen," "When the Tequila Runs Out," and "Who Do You Think You're Talking To?" Along with chart success, Dawes have retained their experimental energy, embracing an '80s adult contemporary vibe on 2020's Goodluck with Whatever and dipping into jazzy, Steely Dan-style rock on 2022's Misadventures of Doomscroller, while 2024's Oh Brother is the band's first to be self-recorded by founding siblings Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith.
