Singer Coffey Anderson spent years as a pop and gospel artist, while finding his greatest success after making the move to country music.
∙ In 2008, Anderson became the only Black singer to reach the semifinals on the TV show Nashville Star.
∙ After issuing four albums on his own, he signed to Dream Records and put out a self-titled LP that peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
∙ His instructional video on how to survive a police traffic stop—released in the wake of Philando Castile’s death—was viewed more than 30 million times in its first days online.
∙ Country Ever After, the 2020 reality show featuring Anderson and his wife, dancer Criscilla Crossland, followed their careers while raising a family.
