About Charlotte Day Wilson
Artist Biography
The deftly woven acoustic and electronic textures of Charlotte Day Wilson’s stirring R&B give her songs a handcrafted quality. Born in 1993 in Toronto, ON, Wilson studied piano as a child and taught herself the basics of production as a teen before leaving home to study music in Halifax, NS, in the early 2010s. After returning home and collaborating with artists like Daniel Caesar and BADBADNOTGOOD, she released her second EP, CDW, in 2016. CDW was heralded by the romantic but clear-eyed “Work,” an earthy, gospel-tinged number that showcases Wilson’s signature smoky voice. She’d continue with that vibe on her debut LP, 2021’s ALPHA, but opted for more complex and layered arrangements while retaining a natural feel on songs like “If I Could.” She embraced imperfection and raw feelings for 2024’s Cyan Blue, foregrounding soul and adding new emotional layers to her already moving music.
