Singer-songwriter Ben Rector played his first big gig at Tulsa’s historic Cain’s Ballroom, fronting his high school group Euro-Mart in a local battle of the bands.
∙ In 2006, during his first year of business school at the University of Arkansas, Rector released his self-titled debut EP.
∙ “Conversation,” a track from the Ben Rector EP, was awarded Grand Prize in the Pop category at the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
∙ Rector took a brief break from his own music in 2014 to record an EP of Huey Lewis covers, Newy Lewis and the Hues, on which he played and sang all the parts himself.
∙ Produced by ex-Evanescence member David Hodges and gospel music megaproducer Ed Cash, 2015’s Brand New cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200—a rare feat for a self-released album.
∙ Rector’s songs have been featured in the TV series Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill, Castle, and Hawaii Five-O.
