Artist Biography
Formed in 2003, American vocal group Xtreme scored several hits with their modern take on Dominican bachata music.
∙ Producer and label owner Andre “Dre” Hidalgo brought the original Xtreme lineup together in 2003 around the talents of 17-year-old vocalist Danny “Danny-D” Mejia.
∙ They first began to build a national following with their self-titled 2005 album, which featured the hit “Te Extraño.”
∙ Haciendo Historia, released in 2006, was their breakthrough album, selling over 100,000 copies and reaching No. 13 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
∙ In 2006, they won the New Soloist or Group of the Year award at Lo Nuestro Awards, which annually celebrate the best in Latin music.
∙ Xtreme scored a No. 2 hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart with 2007’s “Shorty, Shorty.”
∙ In 2009, the group (now just a duo of Danny-D and Steve Styles) starred in their own Spanish TV reality series, Xtreme: on the Verge.
