Brazilian singer and guitarist Toquinho was born Antonio Pecci Filho in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 6, 1946. After an apprenticeship in Brazil's bossa nova and MPB scenes in the 1960s, Toquinho began a collaboration with an older legend, Vinicius de Moraes, that lasted until de Moraes's death in 1980. Heavily influenced by first-wave masters like Oscar Castro-Neves, Baden Powell, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, Toquinho has largely remained true to that style of music rather than attempt to follow later trends.
