Artist Biography
Based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Tegan and Sara is an award-winning indie-pop band composed of identical twin sisters.
∙ They released their 1999 debut, Under Feet Like Ours, as Sara and Tegan, but they soon swapped the order of their names to avoid being thought of as a solo artist called Sara Antegan.
∙ Their 2012 Gold-certified single “Closer” spent 18 weeks on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart, peaking at No. 1.
∙ Get Along, composed of two short documentaries and a live concert film, was nominated for Best Long Form Video at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
∙ In 2013, Heartthrob entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3—their highest ranking to date—and topped the Top Rock Albums chart.
∙ Produced by Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, “Everything Is AWESOME!!!” was the closing theme from 2014’s The Lego Movie and became their first Platinum-certified single.
∙ At the 2014 Juno Awards (the Canadian Grammys), the duo won Group of the Year, Pop Album of the Year (Heartthrob), and Single of the Year (“Closer”).
