Artist Biography
Rapper Soolking became a mainstay on French radio with a sound that blends socially conscious lyrics with elements of hip-hop, reggae, R&B, and raï, a form of Algerian folk music.
∙ Every track on his Platinum-selling 2018 debut, Fruit du démon, hit the French singles chart, including the breakout “Guerilla,” which went viral after his performance on a popular radio show.
∙ French-Algerian rapper Sofiane invited him to appear on the 2018 smash “Woah,” which helped propel the hip-hop compilation album 93 Empire to No. 2 on the French charts.
∙ Released in collaboration with Ouled El Bahdja, a musical group that rallies support for Algerian soccer teams, “Liberté” became an unofficial anthem of the country’s 2019 political protests.
∙ Vintage, his 2020 release featuring guest turns by French R&B singer Dadju and German rapper MERO, cracked the Top 10 in France and Belgium.
