About Skrapz
Artist Biography
West London MC Skrapz uses an indifferent monotone and steely introspection to render tales of hard-earned victories and street-level trauma through decisive gangsta rap. Born Christopher Kyie in 1986, Skrapz began his career as part of a garage and grime group called SLK. In 2011, he launched his solo career with Skrapz Is Back, a debut project laced with his signature matter-of-fact, yet potent lyrical stylings. As part of the UK’s road rap scene, Skrapz built his fan base with projects like Skrapz Is Back, Part II (2014), 80's Baby (2014), and The End of the Beginning (2015). The latter project features “They Ain’t Ready,” a single that earned a second wave of attention when boxer Anthony Joshua used it for his introduction song before he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in a 2017 match. Later, Skrapz unloaded Different Cloth (2017) and Be Right Back (2021), which fortified his status as one of road rap’s defining artists.
