English pop singer Griff made her debut in 2019 with the single “Mirror Talk,” an empowering song about overcoming insecurities.
• The daughter of a Chinese mother and Jamaican father, Griff grew up listening to R&B and classic soul, though she has said the first album she loved on her own was Taylor Swift’s 2008 release Fearless.
• Griff taught herself basic music production using her brother’s computer.
• “Mirror Talk” paved the way for her 2019 debut EP, The Mirror Talk.
• Along with writing her own music, Griff cowrote singer Hailee Steinfeld’s 2020 song “I Love You’s,” which samples Annie Lennox’s 1995 version of “No More ‘I Love You’s.’”
