About Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
Artist Biography
Led by the inimitable three-octave vocals of Frankie Valli, The Four Seasons were one of the most successful American pop-rock bands of the 1960s.
• Counting singles credited to Valli solo, the group scored 19 Top 10 US hits from 1962 to 1978. Seven reached No. 1.
• A native of Newark, New Jersey, Valli formed The Varietones in the early ’50s. That band became The Four Lovers and ultimately The Four Seasons, featuring songwriter and keyboardist Bob Gaudio.
• The Four Seasons caught fire in 1962 after linking with producer Bob Crewe, a frequent songwriting partner for Gaudio. By 1963, the group had notched three No. 1 US hits: “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Walk Like a Man.”
• Despite the British Invasion, The Four Seasons remained popular throughout the mid-’60s. The 1967 Valli solo smash “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” has been played on TV and radio more than 10 million times.
• The ’70s brought three more No. 1 hits, as The Four Seasons topped the Hot 100 with 1975’s “December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)” and Valli reached the summit with 1974’s “My Eyes Adored You” and 1978’s “Grease.”
• Valli and The Four Seasons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and immortalized in the Tony-winning 2005 Broadway musical Jersey Boys.
