Artist Biography
Rapper DAOKO launched her music career at age 15 after hip-hop MC Jinmenusagi saw performance clips she’d posted online and helped her land a record deal.
∙ She provided vocals for TeddyLoid’s “Me!Me!Me!,” a 2014 song whose animated video went viral after being included in the weekly animation showcase Japan Animator Expo.
∙ At the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Japan, DAOKO was nominated for Next Break Artist for her video “Kakete Ageru.”
∙ “Uchiagehanabi,” her 2017 collaboration with Kenshi Yonezu, was the theme song for the anime film Fireworks and a No. 1 hit in Japan.
∙ In 2018, she was nominated for Best Japanese Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
