International reggaeton superstar Zion is best known for providing sweet soprano vocals as one-half of the Puerto Rican duo Zion & Lennox.
• Early in his career, Zion lost his taste for Puerto Rico’s competitive reggaeton scene and briefly shifted his focus to becoming a drum ’n’ bass DJ. That didn’t last long.
• In 2000, the reggaeton singer Mackie connected Zion with his younger brother, Lennox. They formed the duo Zion & Lennox and—with the help of producer Luny Tunes—created a smooth, romantic sound that differentiated them from the field.
• Zion & Lennox first built an audience via popular reggaeton compilations like 2003’s Blin Blin Volumen 1 and Mas Flow.
• The duo’s first album, 2004’s Motivando a la Yal, features the hit “Yo Voy” (featuring Daddy Yankee), which reached No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
• Zion quit to pursue a solo career in 2006 and dropped his first solo LP, The Perfect Melody, the following year. Folding elements of hip-hop, techno, and R&B into his reggaeton sound, he notched No. 2 hit on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
• The group released Los Verdaderos in 2010 and returned six years later with Motivan2, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
• In 2017, they guested on Enrique Iglesias’ international smash “Súbeme la Radio,” which reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. Zion & Lennox have also featured on hits by Daddy Yankee, Tito “El Bambino,” and Don Omar, among others.
