Hailing from Oxford, England, post-punk revivalists the Young Knives issued its debut EP, The Young Knives...Are Dead, on Shifty Disco in 2002. Three years later, the trio was playing shows alongside the Futureheads and Hot Hot Heat while readying a second EP for Transgressive. The limited-edition Junky Music Make My Heart Beat Faster sold out quickly, and was followed by "The Decision." Shows with the Rakes and Dirty Pretty Things wowed the U.K., and their debut full-length, Voices of Animals and Men, arrived in 2006. Superabundance followed in 2008 before the band decamped to Los Angeles to record 2011's Ornaments from the Silver Arcade. Both 2013's Sick Octave and 2020's Barbarians found them in an experimental mood, before 2025's knowingly titled Landfill found them returning to the angular sounds of their earliest material.
