About Yeasayer
Artist Biography
Yeasayer were a crucial band in the psychedelic electro-pop revival of the 2000s, coming of age with peers like MGMT and paving the way for future stars such as Tame Impala. The Brooklyn trio—led by high school friends and co-vocalists/songwriters Chris Keating and Anand Wilder—debuted in 2007 with All Hour Cymbals, a groove-heavy LP highlighted by the haunting, spiritual singles “Sunrise” and “2080.” Yeasayer moved deeper into psychedelic, experimental territory on 2010’s Odd Blood, an album that embraced kaleidoscopic synths and uptempo worldbeat-influenced rhythms, including on the massive, poppy single “O.N.E.” The band continued evolving on each subsequent release, dabbling in avant-garde electro and motorik grooves and dense arrangements. After releasing 2019’s Erotic Reruns—another evolution that dabbled in throwback funk, jazz, and rock—Yeasayer broke up; Wilder launched a solo career in 2022 with I Don’t Know My Words.
