Born Joshua Xavier Gutierrez in Phoenix, AZ, he began playing the guitar and writing songs when he was just a preteen, citing Mexican acts like Sin Bandera as inspiration. He embarked on his professional singing career in 2020, with exuberant singles like "Amigos con Derecho" and "Vete Ya” helping him earn a deal with Interscope Records. He added to the buzz with his debut EP, My Mom's Playlist. The project included "La Victima," a tale of heartbreak that quickly gained social media attention.
