Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was little, I had a Mickey Mouse record player. My mom would catch me intently listening and watching me spin my head around and around with the turntable repeating "rekort, rekort." Who knew that was the start of a music obsession?
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Erasure, Erasure Leftfield, Leftism Orbital, In Sides These are the albums that best define the inspiration to make music myself. Erasure's self-titled album was a departure from their previous releases; In Sides blew me away at first listen; and Leftism is timeless. They all still sound great today.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The 3rd String” This track happened by accident while traveling. I stumbled on a Japanese radio station and I immediately sampled a shamisen on my phone. When I returned to the studio, I built this track around the snippet of inspiration. Ideas are everywhere!
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my favorite career memories was winning an official remix for Ludovico Einaudi's Night competition. This helped springboard my career to what it is today and inspired me to create story-based tracks and albums.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? As an artist, I would love to open for any one of my music heroes on a tour. In particular, opening for Erasure or Orbital would be epic since their live shows have always left me feeling inspired. Playing a stage at SXSW is also a goal of mine.
