Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was a toddler and my mother was still attending music university, I was babysat by many different students, some of which tried to teach me instruments, others yet again played me music like the Twin Peaks Soundtrack for example.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Boris, Boris at Last - Feedbacker DIR EN GREY, Withering to Death. Death from Above 1979, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine Feedbacker stands as successful Gesamtkunstwerk with no compromise made in any way, one of the heaviest albums ever recorded. DFA1979 must be the band that started a million bands. Diru's Withering to Death is the reason I'm still alive.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Es Wird Schon” I always found it challenging to write honestly in German. In the end, it was extremely liberating to write something as truly nihilistic as my worldview had been in the past, even if I had since moved past the downward spiral described in the song.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Being told that my music was the reason someone else started playing guitar was the big one. Music was my lifeline when nothing else was there, and this I want to pay forward.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Touring in Japan, ideally staying for a month or two and recording an album there - maybe even meeting some of my heroes from the Visual Kei scene that lies at the heart of everything I do as an artist.
