The bluesy, retro-minded hard rock found on Wet Animal's sole, eponymous release from 2005 isn't particularly notable in itself, but the band's pedigree most certainly is, being that it was put together by guitarist Rick Wartell and drummer Jeff Olson -- both former members of legendary American doom institution Trouble. Also featuring vocalist Shane Pasqualla and, originally, then-Trouble bassist Ron Holzner, Wet Animal started out as a side project dating back to 1995. The band was left dormant for many years, and then resurrected in 2003 with new bass player Michael DiPrima. This incarnation eventually got around to recording the aforementioned CD, just as the seeds of Trouble's long-prayed-for re-formation were being sown, and it is therefore uncertain whether Wet Animal will ever be revived again. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
