About Walt Disco
Artist Biography
Pairing decades of glamorous, rebellious sounds with decidedly 21st century messages of empowerment, Walt Disco make the music they wish they'd had while growing up. Along with the expected influences of David Bowie, Roxy Music, and Queen, the band drew from other Glaswegian acts like Orange Juice, the Associates, and Franz Ferdinand as well as inventive artists such as St. Vincent and SOPHIE. However, the commanding presence of vocalist Jocelyn Si ensured Walt Disco transcended imitation even on their 2020 debut EP, Young Hard and Handsome. They continually pushed themselves to evolve, adding glitchy electronics to the glam- and post-punk-tinged manifestos on identity of 2022's full-length Unlearning and imbuing 2024's more introspective The Warping with orchestral majesty.
