Artist Biography
Not everyone would want to leave a band just after its initial success, but Unique Salonga marches to his own beat. On Grandma, his 2018 debut solo album, the former IV of Spades frontman explores a fresh brand of psychedelia on cerebral hit “Sino”, and croons—in his melancholic falsetto—about the deadly Ozone Disco fire of 1996 on “Ozone (Itulak ang Pinto)”. Sophomore album Pangalan (2020) focuses on his creative playfulness. From masking loneliness in whimsical tunes (“Bukod-Tangi”) to experimenting with hallucinatory synths (“Mga Katulad Mo”), Unique proves that he is a massively creative artist befitting his name.
