Better known as Mezzosangue, Italian hardcore/conscious rapper Luca Ferrazzi rose to public prominence in 2012 when he took part in Esa's freestyle competition Captain Futuro Contest, causing quite an impression with his soon-to-be trademark balaclava and aggressive beats. Mezzosangue's debut mixtape and first collaboration with producer Squarta, the acclaimed Musica Cicatrene, appeared later that year. Over the following decade the rapper kept securing his fearsome reputation on the Italian hip-hop scene with a steady series of singles and collaborations, as well as a second mixtape (Hurricane, 2013), and the albums Soul of a Supertramp (2015), Tree: Roots & Crown (2018), Sete (2022), Musica Cicatrene (2024), and Viscerale (2025), achieving considerable mainstream success in the process.
