About Troy Cassar-Daley
Artist Biography
Since the mid-’90s, singer/songwriter Troy Cassar-Daley has been a stalwart presence on the Australian country-music charts with his deep, rich voice and earthy sound. Born in Surry Hills, New South Wales, in 1969, Cassar-Daley had an indigenous background on his mother’s side, and that heritage would eventually inform his songwriting. While still a teen, he worked with the groups Little Eagle and The Blue Heeler Band; he kicked off his solo recording career in 1994 with a bang. His debut single, “Dream out Loud,” hit No. 1 on the Australian country charts, and his first album won an ARIA award a year later. The accolades piled up throughout his career, as did his sales. His biggest success came with 2013’s platinum-selling The Great Country Songbook, on which he teamed with singer Adam Harvey on a batch of classic country covers. And Cassar-Daley never stopped evolving, as evidenced by the raw, rock-inflected sound of his 2021 album The World Today.
