Tom Tom Club is the funky, melting-pot side project of Talking Heads members Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. The husband-and-wife duo formed the group in 1981 to further indulge their diverse musical interests. With a definite focus on grooves, the group mixed together everything from disco and hip-hop to Afro-beat and Latin music and managed several hits, including the heavenly dance smash "Genius of Love." The group continued to tour and record, although sporadically, into the 2000s.
Members of Tom Tom Club include, or have included, Tina Weymouth, Adrian Belew, Chris Frantz, Steven Stanley, Alex Weir, Wally Badarou, Raymond Jones, Rupert Hine, Tyrone Downie, Laura Weymouth, and Steve Scales.
